The profiling technology is the most efficient process for producing lumber. By introducing the profiling technology 1979 we succeeded in developing an innovation which revolutionised the sawmill industry. Profiling lines produce centre products and sideboards in one single pass: fully automatic and monitored by one operator only from its ergonomic central control panel.
Linck reducer saw lines offer a multitude of possibilities for optimising your recovery in terms of increasing added value. Our advantage is the result of system concept and unique vertical range of manufacture as Linck provides mechanical equipment, electrical control and optimising systems. The production process starts with a precise 3D-log scanning. The data from each log are used to achieve the maximum optimising result. Another important component is the chipper canter infeed system with its cutting pattern related log rotation and precise log centering for maximum recovery.
The chipper canter is used for primary and secondary processing of round logs or two-sided cants by opening two plane-parallel faces. A round log is converted into a two-sided cant when using the chipper canter for primary processing. This two-sided cant changes to a four-sided one if the machine is used for secondary processing. Converting the cutter heads allows the production of high quality chips for the pulp and paper industry as well as fine chips for pellet production.
The profiler unit profiles one sideboard on each of the two lateral sides of a two- or four-sided cant. Two tool units per side produce the board at the two- or four-sided cant by removing the wane. Each of the four tool units is driven by a three-phase motor and can either be pivoted or tilted path-controlled for maximum recovery. This allows curve sawing or diagonal profiling of sideboards. The tool unit with two saw blades mounted at right angles produces lumber surfaces without tear-outs.
The saw unit CSMK is designed as double arbor machine and suitable for processing round logs as well as two- and four-sided cants.The saw arbors can be commonly adjusted in height to evenly distribute the cutting forces to the top and bottom saw blades. The equipment with two to six axes allows using the machine as sideboard saw only or as flexible resaw. Servo-controlled guide plates are alternatively available for high dimension accuracy.

LINCK has a new generation of cutter heads for its chipper canters. The number of knives of this three-step cutter head can vary between three and six depending on the requested chip length. For producing fine chips, the number of knives in the first step can be doubled.
In contrast to the previous knife disc which has a truncated cone shape, the new generation cutter head is designed with a cylindrical outer disc. This flattening leads to a reduced disc diameter. The rollers in front of and behind the chipper canter can thus move closer to allow a better guiding of short logs.
The reduction in diameter also reduces the overall length of the machine affecting the necessary log gap for optimization processes that require an adjustment of the chipper canter.
Of course, this new generation includes all well-known advantages of the today available cutter heads, the possibility to change from saw rings to dressing knives, the use of regrindable knives and the production of high-quality chips.
